I am hitting September hard with some major goals! I am in full nesting mode and also full savings mode which means it is time for some purging and another no spend month!
First, for the no spend September details: The plan is to purchase only what is 100% needed for me and my fam this month- groceries, fuel, and bills. This is going to be extra challenging this month with all the fall goodness staring at me as I walk through Walmart and Target and my Amazon app glaring at me from my phone, but I can do this! I have meal planned for the whole month which will help us stay on track, too, without eating out and eliminate the need for last minute trips to the store. Here is our plan for the month. I will be sharing some of these recipes with you throughout September.
Now, for the decluttering. Brady and I purge stuff all the time. We are really good about cleaning stuff out and getting things we don’t need out of the house. However, we aren’t so great at actually getting rid of them. We have a HUGE section of our storage building out back dedicated to stuff we need to sell or donate. A large part of our efforts this month will go to shrinking that section, I got a head start this morning by posting some of Harper’s clothes and some books for sale on Facebook and most of it sold right away! It feels so good to get rid of stuff and make a little cash! I plan on following this 30 day detox plan to help me stay on track. I also like the idea of focusing on one room a week.
- Week 1: Kitchen- clean out all cabinets, drawers and pantry this week. Sell or donate everything you don’t need!
- Week 2: Master Bedroom- Clothes and books are the main things that we purge from our bedroom. If you don’t love it, you don’t need it!
- Week 3: Kids Rooms- Anyone else find themselves determined not to be overwhelmed with toys yet, somehow, they are EVERYWHERE?! Please say you can relate! Purge toys and clothes that don’t fit or are out of season.
- Week 4: Living/Common Areas- Cozy up your space by rearranging furniture and accessories and getting rid of the clutter and stuff that always ends up where we spend most of our time.
I’m so excited about starting the fall/holiday season with a less cluttered home and a little extra cash in my pocket. How about you? Will you be joining me in this month’s challenge? Let me know in the comments or by commenting on social media! I want to follow along with your journey!
Be the good.
